Photographic Project
“Open Britain”
PROJECT STORYLINE:
ACT 1: The Set-Up
‘Open Britain’ is a photography project with a powerful message, celebrating the vital role migration has played in shaping modern Great Britain. At a time when this topic is more relevant than ever, the client’s vision for the project was to capture the resilience and contributions of migrants, highlighting how their presence has been a lifeline during some of the UK’s most challenging times.
The client held this project close to their heart, making it essential that the logo conveyed the deep values and energy driving this initiative.
ACT 2: The Challenge
The design challenge was clear: incorporate the project’s name or initials into the logo while symbolising the concept of open doors representing how the UK has remained open to migrants and how they, in turn, have kept the country going.
The task was to translate this idea into a visual identity that could capture the essence of opportunity, inclusivity, and the importance of migration in modern Britain, all while remaining visually engaging and versatile across various formats.
ACT 3: The Resolution
The logo solution involved a creative interplay of the letters “O” and “B” in the logomark, with the letter “B” cleverly positioned inside an open doorway to symbolise the welcoming nature of Britain. The wordmark extended this idea further by incorporating a doorway into the letter ‘I’ of ‘Britain,’ using negative space to evoke the same theme.
The colour palette added vibrancy and energy to the design, reflecting diversity and the dynamic contributions of migrants.
Whether used as a stand-alone logomark, a wordmark, or combined, the design worked seamlessly across formats and scales, perfectly encapsulating the project’s spirit and purpose.

“What I received back was way better than anything I had imagined. A couple of quick drafts later I believe I have the perfect logo and branding.”
“Thank you HotSauce, I’ll be back.”
